Adult Step Dancing
Solo and/or group style classes!
Looking for beginner adult Irish dancing classes? Looking to get back into dancing after years away? Portland has quite a few options for adults looking for step dancing classes. When choosing a step dancing class, we recommend checking out the websites, social media, and public reviews to get a feel for the way they do things, and then reach out to ask questions and, if possible, watch or try out a class.
The local step dancing schools that may currently offer adult lessons are: An Daire Academy of Irish Dance, Murray School of Irish Dancing, and Yeates Academy of Irish Dance.
Local Ceili & More
Weekly & Monthly, Tualatin & Salem
Ceili is pronounced ‘kay-lee’ and is the Gaelic word referring to an evening gathering of friends sharing and enjoying traditional Irish music, song, dance, and fun! Ceili classes and events focus entirely on group style Irish dancing (similar to square dancing -- less footwork, more formations). It's a low-impact workout and a great social activity! The classes are drop-in style, and every dance is taught and explained before it's danced. These classes and events are for teens and adults -- no partner or experience is necessary! Tualatin and Salem both offer a bustling scene of ceili dancing, check out their info below!
